Post Cancer Reconstruction
Patients having undergone surgery for oral cancer are often left with large oral, oral-nasal and/or oral-antral (sinus) defects that prevent normal chewing, swallowing and speaking. Besides the surgical treatments, the patients may have also undergone chemotherapy and/or radiation treatments. These additional treatments often leave the patient's mouth dry and with a restricted opening due to trismus or tightening of the jaw muscles. The goal in our practice is to restore these patients to as normal a function as possible.
